Why this is different

Most kundali websites ask you to sign up, or quietly send your birth date, time and place to a server before showing you anything. JyotishGen doesn’t. Every planetary position, every divisional chart, the full Vimshottari Dasha timeline — all of it is calculated with JavaScript running in your own browser. Nothing about your birth details is uploaded, logged, or stored anywhere, by us or by anyone else.

That is not a minor technical detail — birth details are about as personal as data gets, and most people would rather not hand them to a stranger’s server just to see a chart. See exactly how this works on the About page, or read the full Privacy Policy.

Frequently asked questions

No. Unlike most kundali websites, JyotishGen never uploads, transmits, or stores your date, time, or place of birth. Every calculation runs locally in your browser — nothing is sent to any server. If you choose “Save on this device”, the details are kept only in your own browser, and you can remove them at any time.

Planetary positions are computed from JPL Keplerian elements and a truncated ELP-2000 lunar theory, matching published astronomical values to within a few arc-seconds for the Moon and roughly an arc-minute for other planets. Sidereal longitudes use Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa.

Yes. Use the language switch at the top of the page to toggle between English and Hindi at any time, including after your chart has been generated.

The classical Vedic system that divides a 120-year cycle into planetary periods (Mahadasha) and sub-periods, used to time when different life themes are most active. JyotishGen computes the full sequence down to the Antardasha level.

Yes. JyotishGen runs entirely in your mobile browser — no app install required, and the chart, tables, and dasha timeline are all designed to work on a phone screen.

No. The palmistry tab reads the photo inside this page. It is decoded into an in-page canvas, measured by JavaScript on your own device, and discarded — never transmitted, never written to browser storage, and gone the moment you remove it, reload, or close the tab.

About the Janam Kundali and this calculator

A Janam Kundali (Vedic birth chart) is a map of the sky at the moment and place of your birth, drawn in the sidereal zodiac that Indian astrology uses. It records the sign each of the nine grahas occupied, which sign was rising on the eastern horizon (the Lagna), and where the Moon stood among the 27 nakshatras. Everything else in the chart is built from those positions.

This page computes that map in your browser from the date, time and place you enter. It uses the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa and whole-sign houses, the Parashari convention followed by most practitioners. Nothing you type is uploaded or stored.

What the calculator produces

  • The Rashi chart and fifteen divisional charts, including the Navamsa (D9) used for marriage and the Dasamsa (D10) used for career, in North or South Indian style.
  • A table of graha positions with sign, degree, house, nakshatra, pada, dignity and motion.
  • The full Vimshottari Dasha timeline down to Antardasha, with the running period marked.
  • Yoga detection for classical combinations, and the Ashtakvarga bindu table.
  • Panchang details for the birth moment: tithi, vara, nitya yoga, karana, sunrise and sunset.

Getting an accurate chart

Birth time matters most. The Lagna advances about one degree every four minutes, so a few minutes of error can move the Lagna and the divisional charts. If you were born outside India, check whether daylight saving time applied on your birth date and adjust the UTC offset accordingly.
